John is a very professional instructor that has a lot of patience.I felt at ease with John in the car, and I knew when he agreed I should book my test, I would be ready. He won't put anyone in for their test if they weren't ready, or don't feel ready.

He is a calm and collected tutor that helps with each driver the way they need to be taught.

I think highly of John, and I think that anyone wanting to get through their test first or second time, this would be the best driving instructor.

A huge thank you to John for helping me through my test. and I greatly recommend him..

First I would just like to thank John for his help getting me through my test first time! He’s been a great teacher; keeping calm and helpful even when I made stupid mistakes. Throughout my driving experience he gave me lots of useful material, including a self watch disk, help sheets and other driving DVDs. When coming up to my test, being a ‘stress-head’ he gave me a relaxation CD which I think helped. On the day of my test he helped me keep calm taking me on a quiet route into Pontefract and told me to think about driving rather than passing or failing. Well, he must have done something right for me to pass, so thanks again John! Megan Wood

Over the 8 months of learning to drive, John provided informative handouts, DVD's and websites which would help me with advancing in driving. The in-car video recorder was a fantastic help too, being able to watch the previous lesson and taking in my faults and then improving on them and being able to deal with the situation the next time it arises. As soon as I started my lessons with John I grew in confidence. He is very patient and really makes you enjoy the lessons. After having around 15 hours with a previous driving instructor I stopped driving lessons for a while and then resumed them with John. When resuming them I soon realised that I was not half as good at driving as what my previous instructor had told me. I started driving with John as somebody who hated driving, got very upset most lessons and simply did not want to learn but was forcing herself. After a few hours with John he helped sort my clutch control out and perfected this within my first lessons. This then gave me the confidence. He is a fabulous driving instructor and I would recommend him to anybody starting to drive. I passed my test first time and definitely did not expect too. John is easy to talk to and get along with and helped me by giving demonstrations, giving me DVDs to watch and lots of handouts - these were all so much help and great to reflect on after the lesson. These extra resources were also at no extra cost. I will definitely be using John to do my Pass Plus this summer as I know he is a great teacher and has a great ability to understand you as an individual. - Victoria Stead.

I have recently passed my driving test thanks to John’s patient tutoring. I found he was honest and encouraging and would not only teach me to pass the test but to be a safe, confident driver after passing. I found the DVD’s and camera were extremely helpful for looking back at the lessons and picking up some of the things I missed, I now wonder how people manage without them! Many thanks John for helping both me and my brother to learn to drive.

After losing confidence in my ability to drive as a result of too many lessons with an unsuitable instructor, I was nervous about trying to learn again three years later. However, I immediately found John to be extremely patient and supportive, providing excellent advice and information. He is very dedicated to his students and where possible will book your lessons to suit the way in which you wish to learn. For instance, I chose to learn quite intensively over a 3 week period. Learning to drive with John at Drive-Wright was brilliant. He was really patient, and was fantastic at explaining things. My confidence went from strength to strength after each lesson. I was a late learner (aged 33) and I really did not think that I would ever pass my test. I had been learning to drive off and on for years and had been to two other driving instructors, but I hated it, however my husband kept the pressure on and made me take lessons with John. I am so glad that he did, because John turned learning to drive into an enjoyable experience. He picked straight up on my weakness which was clutch control, and explained the whole process to me and before I knew I had cracked it. Unlike my previous driving instructors, who I feel were only interested in getting as many lessons out of me as possible without actually progressing me, John pushed me into doing my theory test from day 1, and gave me tons of support material to help me pass. The other instructors, and one in particular, told me I would need a minimum of 50 hours before I could even consider going for a test and this was before I even got in a car with her. I know that John gets tons of recommendations from people, and so he should!! He is a great teacher, he will be firm when he needs to be, he will encourage you and bring the best out of you, so that you go on to become a safe driver and pass your test.

John has undoubtedly made me a safe and confident driver for life. He is a very patient teacher, and i always felt comfortable throughout my lessons with him. He provided me with extra accessories such as DVDs to study in my own time, and a theory kit to help revise for the test. He provides handouts which give clear demonstrations, and he also uses video guidelines on a portable DVD player in the car which i felt was extremely beneficial. I have had many friends who have learnt to drive at the same time as me, and none of them have received help and support from their instructor like i did, which This is why i would recommend John so highly. Added to which he had me ready for my test within 5 months of driving, no complaints what so ever. 10/10 - Thanks John

‎‎I would recommend this driving teacher to anyone, he is very patient well he had to be with me lol. He is very dedicated to his students and provides you with loads of help which includes discs and information sheets. He has an little DVD player which shows you what to do if you struggle to understand, he knows what he is talking about and is always thinking of new ways to teacher things easier, i was only having lessons for 5 month and approximately 30 lessons and passed (and im a girl :).) So get booking, i can't thank you enough john cheers. Beth

 I would highly recommend John to anyone wanting to learn how to drive, especially those nervous about getting behind the wheel. John is a patient teacher who offers a whole range of advice, knowledge and also cd's and dvd's that make learning to drive easier. The added material that John gives really does help when studying for the theory test as well as the handouts for the practical aspects of learning to drive. John is always polite, friendly and very accommodating when booking lessons

 I was very cautious about learning to drive and had put it off for a few years, when i first got behind the drivers seat lots of nerves kicked in, i needn't have worried because John made the experience as smooth as it possibly could be. He had lots of patience with me ( which was needed!!) and made the journey fun, quick and pleasurable. John has been an excellent teacher, when I started with him I had not had a lesson in 4 years and was nervous and lacked confidence, John has built it back up in no time and now I am actually looking forward to taking my test! He has turned out to be a good and safe driver. I wanted to drive as soon as i was 17 and my brother said John was patient and helpful. I have found this to be true. If i didn't grasp what he wanted me to do, he was prepared to stop and show me and i found this a good way to learn. He gave me information to pass my theory test and the confidence i need to pass my driving test.
